Frequently Asked Questions

Your Questions Answered

If you question is not on this list, reach out to us via our Contact Us page.

How often do you meet?

The Division has Monthly Drills that take place from September through June (approximately matches the school year). The Division will meet a full Saturday and Sunday once a month.

Do the Cadets stay overnight for Monthly Drills?

No, they arrive and depart daily. The Drills are approximately 8 hours each day (Saturday and Sunday)

Do the Cadets go to Boot Camp?

Each Cadet will go to Recruit Training; usually during the summer. The training is challenging and age appropriate. No “Full Metal Jacket” here. The Cadets enjoy Recruit Training and have many positive memories from the experience.

Is there an obligation to join the military?

No, there is no obligation to join the military at all. If they do choose to join then they can receive early promotions or potential college scholarships because they participated in the program.

Do you have to be in great shape to join?

We do have a physical fitness test that the Cadets perform multiple times during the year. We encourage the Cadets to have a healthy lifestyle that includes exercise. That being said, they do not need to be a “star athlete” to pass our physical fitness tests.

Do you pay for your uniforms?

There is a one-time uniform deposit collected during initial enrollment. This deposit will be returned after the Cadet concludes the program and returns their uniforms. Our Supply Department will swap their uniforms as they grow. The Division does not provide footwear or undergarments.

Do the Cadets have to have a short haircut?

The Cadets wear the uniform of the United States Navy with appropriate Sea Cadet identification. They are required to maintain the same grooming requirements as members of the Navy.

Is there an attendance policy?

The Cadets are required to attend 75% of all Monthly Drill Days. This translates to missing only 5 days per yearly term (10 Month Drill)
